It’s not an accident that 80% of the world’s remaining biodiversity are located on land managed and loved by Indigenous People.

A number of studies and reports demonstrate that when appropriately supported to protect the environment, Indigenous People are the most effective guardians of our lands.

Having experienced this first-hand coming from a country with a rich indigenous background and having spent four years in Australia witnessing the beauty of the aboriginal intellect, I am Intrigued to explore this way of life and learn from it.

We, as a society are in a pretty bad spot and ignoring the experience and knowledge of the original inhabitants of this land is something we can no longer afford to do. We cannot find solutions to the problems we face with the same ideology from which those problems emerged. It’s time we slow down, pause a little, reconnect with nature and with ourselves and listen to the indigenous communities.

I am far away from bringing in a noteworthy change, but I am one step closer than where I was yesterday.

I was born in Mumbai, India and spent 23 years of my life there - moving to London was never on the cards. Well, not like I followed what was on the cards even when I was a kid. I could never sit in one place they say, and my parents were constantly asked if they ever fitted a spring in my back side - I am still waiting for an answer!

I lived in row-houses with doors wide open and people from all walks of life unknowingly learning from each other. It is this experience that I believe filled me with curiosity to know people and understand why we do what we do. I was never an avid reader, but my curiosity to understand human behaviour has made me read much more than I ever thought I would.

If you are looking for someone who swims against the tide, you are at the right place. I believe that my varied experience of working in three of the biggest cities of the world - Mumbai, Sydney and London has equipped me with the right mindset to find a solution to every problem you throw at me.
